Patio Covers and Pergolas in Austin

A Texas patio is unusable for about four months of the year. The slab is already there, the door opens onto it, and nobody goes out because there is no shade and nowhere to sit that is not in full sun.

Last Stage Services builds the cover. Insulated patio roofs, pergolas, screen rooms and carports, attached to the house or freestanding, across Austin and the towns around it.

What we build

Insulated patio covers with a solid roof panel, which is the one that makes a patio usable in August rather than just shaded. Pergolas and lattice covers with open rafters, including the decorative tails that make it look built rather than bolted on. Screen rooms that turn a covered patio into a room you can sit in without the mosquitoes. Carports, attached or standing on their own. Sunrooms with full glazing.

Attached to the fascia, tied into an existing roofline, or freestanding on its own posts where the roof will not carry it.

Built for Texas, which is the whole engineering problem

A cover here has to shed a summer that cracks paint and then take a storm that arrives sideways. That means posts set and anchored properly, a slope that actually drains, a ledger flashed into the wall so water goes outside rather than into the framing, and a panel that insulates rather than just blocks light.

Aluminum rather than timber on the structural members, because it does not rot, does not warp in the heat and does not need staining every other year.

Commercial work too

The same systems scale. We have built a louvered pergola on the roof terrace of a multi story building, which is a different job to a backyard: access by lift, weight limits, wind load at height, and working around people using the space.

What it costs

Installation starts at $2,560, which is two people for two full days. A larger span, a tie in to an existing roofline, or a screen room enclosure runs to $3,840 and up.

The structure itself is quoted separately by span, style and post count, and you get both figures together before anything is ordered. Site preparation, a slab or footings where they are needed, is quoted on what the ground actually is rather than assumed.

What happens to what comes off

An old awning, a rotted timber pergola or a collapsed carport usually has to go before the new one goes up. That is hauling, which we already do, so it happens in the same visit rather than sitting in your driveway waiting for somebody else.
