Where Your Things Went

Every crew in this city will tell you they donate. It costs nothing to say and almost nobody writes down where anything actually went, so the word has stopped carrying information.

Last Stage Services records the destination of the usable things we carry out, and we show you the load. This page is that record, kept in public.

An Austin apartment, August 2026

A family was clearing their mother's apartment after a move. Furniture and appliances came out over a single day, and what still had life in it was driven to the Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Lake Creek, at 13804 North US 183. The donation was arranged four days ahead under pick-up ID 49645-1, so the destination was settled before anything was lifted.

The apartment was cleaned before we handed the keys back.

The family wrote this in public afterward, unprompted:

Lois H. "Brendon and Laura with SymbioHaven did an incredible job hauling furniture and appliances from my mom's apartment when she moved. They took everything that was in good condition to families in need and donated what was not needed. They cleaned the apartment and it looked better than when she moved in."

What gets written down

On a cleanout we record the name and address of the place each usable load was delivered to, and we photograph the load before it leaves. You get both. If something goes to a second destination because the first will not take it, that is recorded too, including the refusal.

The point is that the sentence "it was donated" should have an address attached to it.

What we will not tell you

We do not publish a diversion percentage, because we do not weigh loads and any number we printed would be invented. We will not claim that nothing from your home reached a landfill. Mattresses, broken particle board and most upholstery are refused by donation centers, and pretending otherwise would be the same empty sentence this page exists to replace.

What we can tell you is where the usable things went, which is the part you actually wanted to know.

The work this comes from

This record comes out of estate cleanouts, senior downsizing, and junk removal. Ten percent of every job funds a local creek or park cleanup through the Stewardship Fund.

Ask any crew you are considering where the last load they called a donation actually went. If they can answer with a name and an address, you have a good one.
