Heat, plastic, and why hosing it out stops working

You can rinse a bin yourself, and in mild weather that helps. What a hose will not do is lift what has bonded to warm plastic after a Texas summer, or kill the bacteria living in the scratches that make the smell come back in three days. That takes hot water at pressure and the right treatment.

The other half is where the water goes. Rinsing a bin in the driveway sends everything that was in it into the storm drain and, eventually, into a creek. We contain the runoff. That is the part that actually matters and the part almost nobody asks about.

The franchises run truck-mounted systems and sell monthly plans, and there is nothing wrong with that except the shape of it, you commit to a recurring charge for a single narrow task. We are usually on the property anyway for the pressure washing or the pool, which makes the bins marginal work for us and a whole dispatch for them.
