GroundsVolt collects organic material across Austin and routes it into compost and mushroom substrate instead. Hauling organics away is not waste removal, it is harvesting. The same trip is either disposal or supply, depending entirely on where the truck goes afterward.

What we collect

Spent coffee grounds from cafés and roasters. Produce scraps, trim, and peels from kitchens and groceries. Pulp from juice and smoothie bars. Spent mushroom blocks from farms. Plant material from growers and landscapers. If it is organic and currently headed for a dumpster, it is probably something we want.

How it works

We agree on a container and a rhythm that fits your volume. We collect on that schedule. You do nothing differently except set material aside where it already accumulates. One point of contact, and a pickup that happens whether or not anyone reminds us.

This does not replace your hauler

It diverts one stream out of what your hauler takes. Your existing waste service stays exactly as it is, and often gets a little cheaper, because the heaviest and wettest part of the load has stopped going into it.

Into compost and living soil and mushroom substrate, sold to growers around Austin, and into community green space through the wider SymbioHaven ecosystem. We can tell you what your material became and roughly where it went, which is the part your customers turn out to care about most.

Why not just use a commercial hauler?

A commercial hauler will absolutely take it, and take it to a landfill, and none of it will ever be anything again. Their fleets and municipal contracts are real advantages we do not have. What we can do that they structurally cannot is tell you where your material ended up, in this city, this season.
