Second-Chance Hiring, People Who Are Ready Before the System Says So

Stacked chairs and folded tables loaded into the back of a truck, ready to move.

Two walls stand between a person coming home and a job. A background check that looks back a fixed number of years, and an employer who wants a work history. On day one, the same person fails both, no matter how good they are, no matter what they can do.

Neither wall is an opinion you can argue with. Both are clocks.

So we don't argue with them. We outlast them.

SymbioHaven employs people the market won't take yet, across hauling, cleanouts, grounds routes, builds, and pet care. Real work, real pay, real supervision, and a real employer who will answer the phone when somebody calls to verify it.

While that work happens, two things accrue that nothing else can produce: verifiable employment history, and time. Those are the exact two things the wall was made of.

What that means for a company hiring

By the time we send you someone, the conversation is different. You are not being asked to take a chance on a blank résumé. You are looking at a person with a documented run of steady work, a supervisor you can call, and demonstrated skills, who happens to also have a record.

That is a normal hire with a normal reference check. Most of the risk companies are actually worried about got absorbed on our side, over months, before you ever saw the file.

If you're thinking about fair-chance hiring

A few things worth knowing, whether or not you ever work with us.

Most of what people fear turns out to be about supervision and fit, not about records. The single biggest predictor of how someone does is whether the role is right for them, which is true of every hire you have ever made. Ban-the-box rules and the timing of when you run a check vary by state and city, so check your own. And there are federal bonding programs and tax credits for hiring people with records that most employers have never heard of.

We'll tell you what we've learned, whether you hire through us or not.

If you're the one coming home

There is no cost to you here, ever.

Tell us what you can do and what you actually want. If we have work, we'll put you to work. If we don't have it yet, we'll be honest about that too rather than string you along, and we'll keep your name in front of us, because the wall you're standing at is a clock and clocks run out.

What this is not

This is not a charity placement and nobody is doing anyone a favor. People are hired because the work needs doing and they can do it. It is not a training program, and it is not a diversion or reentry program run on somebody's grant.

It is an employer taking people the market refused, paying them properly for real work, and putting the resulting history where it can be seen.

The part that closes the loop

We employ people and then place them somewhere better. The paid searches on the hiring side fund the ability to employ someone in the first place. The employment builds the history. The history makes the placement possible.

It is one loop, and it only turns if all of it turns.
