Most greenhouse designs come from places that need to trap heat. Here the problem is the opposite for five months of the year. Ventilation, shade cloth, orientation, and thermal mass matter more locally than insulation does, and a kit designed for a Michigan winter will cook everything inside it by June. What gets built here accounts for that from the start.

Your yard decides the design

Where the sun crosses, where the water is, how the wind moves through, what the HOA will accept, and how much room you are actually willing to give up. Those five things determine the build more than any catalog does. We look at the space before proposing anything.

What it costs

Tell us the footprint you have in mind and what you want to grow in it, and you get an honest number. Building it beats a comparable kit on price, and it beats one substantially on fit, because a kit does not know where your fence line is. If the site turns out to need grading or a base we did not see in photos, you hear that before we do the extra work.

Why not a kit from a big-box store?

Kits are fine, and for a simple flat site with no constraints one can be the right call. What they cannot do is fit an odd yard, account for Austin's heat, use a wall you already have, or match the height you actually need for what you plan to grow. The savings on a kit tend to be spent again on modifying it, and then a third time on the season it takes to learn what should have been different.

What goes inside it

Once the structure is up, the growing is its own skill, and the workshops cover that. If the work is heading toward cultures and sterile technique, that wants a flow hood or lab space rather than a greenhouse.
